Skip hire questions and answers

If you have plies of rubbish mounting up then a skip is the perfect answer, but if you've never hired a skip before you may have questions about sizes, time scales and what you can put in your skip. This handy guide should make things a little easier for you.

Q: Where can the skip be left?
Your skip must be placed on private land. Skips cannot be left on the road without a permit along with the necessary signage and lights. If you're unable to put your skip on private land, please get in touch with us and we may still be able to help you.

Q: What materials can't I put in my skip?
There are certain materials that are considered hazardous waste you won't be able to put into a skip and should be disposed of at your local Council waste site:

  • Asbestos - this is a potentially hazardous and harmful material
  • Fridges - unfortunately, we are charged a fee to dispose of these
  • Freezers - as with fridges, we are charged a fee to dispose of these
  • Tyres - must be disposed of in a certain way which cost us money

Q: How full can I load the skip?
As with most skip hire companies in Leeds, we ask that you level-load the skip and not fill it higher than the level of the top of the skip itself. Over-filling may incur an additional charge.

Q: What size skip am I going to need?
Skips come in a variety of different sizes, each one costing different to the next. Whichever size you choose, please make sure that it will definitely fit on your driveway, on the road outside your house (for which you're likely to need council permission), or wherever you want the skip to be.

Q: How long can I hire a skip for from you?
Our standard hire duration is up to 7 days, but you can have it collected sooner providing you give us 48 hours notice. If you require a skip permit we will need to check how long that lasts with your local council.

Q: What do you do with my waste after my skip is collected?
